If we're going to spend some time together, I suppose you should know who you're dealing with. Or (for the grammatically correct among us) with whom you're dealing.
1. I'm just a bit over 40, and this is the best time of my life.
2. I am married to a younger man (which I highly recommend, by the way), who is a truly terrific husband and father. I waited until I was 34 to get married, and he was truly worth waiting for. Notwithstanding the foregoing, however, he gets very upset when more than one box of craft-related paraphernalia per week appears on the doorstep. Apparently nobody's perfect.
3. I have a beautiful, precocious daughter who is much too smart for us. I love her so much it is just ridiculous.
4. I used to make my living as an attorney in San Francisco, California. I didn't particularly enjoy it, but that's life. Now I work for a litigation consulting firm, analyzing economic issues for expert witnesses. It's interesting and challenging, and involves much less day-to-day conflict. Don't tell my boss, but I love it.
5. If I could, I would read and craft and watch Frontline documentaries on PBS all the time.
6. I'm not a fan of the Bush administration.
7. If you ask me, the decision to say that gay marriages are banned but civil unions between same-sex couples are ok sounds a lot like the whole "separate but equal" segregation system that the U.S. Supreme Court dispensed with in the 1950s as unconstitutional. I'm just saying.
8. I rock at Scrabble.
9. I suck at chess.
10. I procrastinate about everything.
11. My favorite foods are In-N-Out double-double cheeseburgers and chocolate and Sweet Tarts.
12. My favorite drinks are coffee (of course!), Guinness, and very dirty Grey Goose martinis.
13. Sometimes I get depressed.
14. Listening to Wayne Dyer always makes me feel better.
15. I have more books than I can read in my lifetime. I want to make sure I don't run out.
16. I have more yarn than I can knit up in my lifetime. I still covet more.
17. I sure hope my daughter someday likes to read and knit as much as I do.
18. I have more scrapbooking and stamping supplies than I can use up in a lifetime. Luckily, my daughter already loves to do these things too, and she'll help me.
19. I don't like talking on the phone.
20. I secretly love makeup.
21. But I very rarely wear it.
22. I used to wish for a studio of my own, to write and create in. My husband and I recently outfitted our office with an art table and shelving for my supplies, as well as a great desk with two computer stations and lots of light. Wishes DO come true!
23. Yeah, that's enough. :)
